Gilbert E. Dye, 80, of Parkersburg died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Freed, W.Va., a son of the late Howard and Madge (Hammer) Dye.

He worked for Sears and Arcade TV and Appliance for over 40 years. He was a United States Navy veteran and enjoyed gardening and restoring old radios.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Don Vaughn of Washington, W.Va.; two granddaughters and their husbands, Donna and Roger Pruitt of Point Pleasant, W.Va., and Debora and John "Butch" Marion of Mineral Wells; four great-grandchildren, Brianna Blair, Chad Pruitt, Lauren Marion and Zachary Marion; two brothers, Louie Dye of Boaz and Kenneth Dye of Larkmead, W.Va.; and a sister Wilmadene Williams of Washington, W.Va.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth M. (Harden) Dye; a brother; and a sister.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Evangelist Steve Fuchs officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens with military honors by American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
