Irma Irene Fetchenhier, 82 of Zimmerman, passed away peacefully in her sleep after years of illness October 1st, 2007 at the Elim Home in Princeton. A memorial service in her honor will be held at the Princeton VFW at 2:00 on October 14. Her interment will be at the Baldwin Cemetery held at a later date.

Irma was born on December 20, 1924 in Winnebago, Minnesota to William and Rebecca (Fitz) Forbes. Irma married her best friend Orland Fetchenhier in October 1945 at Minnesota Lake, Minnesota. Their union lasted fifty-four years until Orland's death in August of 1999. They had three children.

Irma was an active member of her community. She and her husband were involved with the Cub Scouts for over thirty-five years. She was a lifetime member of the Princeton VFW Auxiliary being a member for sixty-two years where she held many elected offices. Her pride and refuge was her home on Cantlin Lake where she kept flower gardens and fed her beloved wild birds. She was a skilled card player, enjoying cribbage with her family and friends. Until her illness, she was an active sportswoman enjoying fishing, hunting, and bowling. She will be missed by her many friends and loved ones.

Preceded in death are her parents, her husband, and two sisters, Millie Bice and Vivian Ziegler, half brothers and sisters, Gladys Sickler, Phyllis Hodge, Zella Adams, Zoe Scott, Zina Wallace, Ella Van Duzee, Charles Forbes and Frank Forbes.

She left behind many family members: her daughter, Cheryl K. Goetz, of Princeton; and her sons, Richard D. Fetchenhier of Zimmerman, and Larry J. Fetchenhier, and his wife Luann, of Wascilla, Alaska., and her sister, Wilma Thisius of Wells, Minnesota. She will be missed by her many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
