The 1930 and 1935 US census finds the Ballard family living in Pendelton, Oregon where both Jessie and Charles are working sales in a drygoods store, their son Robert is 17. The 1940 census list their home in Grand Junction, Mesa Colorado. At the time of his death, June 18, 1980 he was 81 years old and living in Grandview, Washington.
