Information obtained from the City of Cedartown shows that William Arthur Colquitt served on the Cedartown City Commission in the years 1921, 1922, 1927, 1928, 1929 and 1930. He was serving as Mayor of Cedartown at the time of his death in 1932.

MAYOR COLQUITT DIES
AT HOME IN CEDARTOWN

Chattannoa Time Special.
ROME, Ga., Sept 7.-W. A. Colquitt, mayor of Cedartown, cashier of and affiliated with the Rome Loan and Finance company, died early this morning from a heart attack at his home in Cedartown. Mr. Colquitt attended a performance of John Robinson's circus in Rome last night and suffered a slight attack during the performance, but drove the nineteem miles to his home after the show. He had not complained of feeling ill before coming to Rome. Mr. Colquitt had been mayor since Jan. 1. The term expires Jan. 1. 1934. C. B. Chapman, mayor pro tem., will act as mayor until an election is called. He is survived by his widow, a son and daughter and the following sisters, Mrs. J. B. Hosby (this should be Mrs. J. B. Hamby), of Albertville, Ala.; Mrs. Ernest Cosby, of Gadsden, Ala.; Mrs. Etta Pullen, of Cedartown, and Mrs. C. W. Buchanan, of Atlanta. Funeral services will be held Thursday in Cedartown and burial will be in the Cedartown cemetery.
