Abilene, TX - Henry Adam Klingler, 87, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012, in Abilene. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5410 Buffalo Gap Rd., Abilene. Burial will be 2 p.m. at the Pendergrass Cemetery in Sidney, Tx (Comanche County) directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South, Abilene. The family will receive friends at a Rosary at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Born to Frank and Clara Klingler on August 20, 1924 in Wendelin, Illinois, Henry spent his childhood on the family farm. Upon graduation from the Marmion Military Academy in Aurora, Illinois, Henry joined the United States Army serving a tour in Europe during World War II, where he was a Captain attached to the 13th Armored Division, and the Korean Conflict. While training at Camp Bowie in Brownwood, Texas, he met and married Martha Nell Stewart. Following his Army service, he began a career as an x-ray technician and later retired as the Vice President of Engineering for West Texas Microwave, playing an instrumental role in engineering and building the tower relay system to introduce cable television to the communities of West Texas. He launched a second career as an instructor at Texas State Technical Institute, sharing his knowledge and experience with the next generation of aspiring engineering professionals. He was an active member in the Key City Amateur Radio Club and a former member of the Abilene Astronomy Club. Henry was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and a founding member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Abilene.

Henry is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Martha Nell Klingler.

He is survived by his sister, Clare Marie Brud of Wood River, IL, and sons: Stephen Dana Klingler and wife Natalie of Phoenix, AZ; Paul Stewart Klingler and wife Paula of Abilene, TX; John Michael Klingler and wife Angela of Salem, NH; Thomas Henry Klingler and wife Mary of Stratford, CT; and Timothy Joel Klingler and wife Elizabeth of Tyler, TX; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Texas Rehabilitation Center.
