Funeral services for James Clifford Grimes, Sr.,79, 1840 West St., Piqua, Ohio, who died Thursday in a nursing home there, will be held at 2 p.m. today from the Lindale First Baptist Church with the Revs. Gene Collum and Benny Garner officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Polk Memory Gardens. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Warren Kommer, Piqua, Ohio; three sons, James Grimes, Jr., Piqua, Ohio, Graham Grimes, Rome, Clyve Grimes, Dayton, Ohio; five brothers, Tom Grimes, Gadsden, Ala., Robert Grimes, Northhampton, Mass., Owen Grimes, William Grimes, Otis Grimes all of Cedartown; three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Grimes Cox Caldwell, Cedartown, Mrs. Odessa Grimes Jones, Rockmart, Mrs.Sarah Grimes White Hammonds, Rome; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Grimes was born in Polk County, son of the late John Thomas and Nancy Eva Colquitt Grimes. He had been a resident of Ohio for the past 32 years. A retired carpenter, Mr. Grimes was an active member of Northridge Baptist Church in Dayton. Pallbearers include nephews Glynn Jones, Lloyd Cox, J.W. White, Wayne Grimes, Porter Grimes and Tommy Popham. (Rome News-Tribune, 9/25/1983).
