Varnville, Aug. 24 -- Melvin Frank Dempsey, 32, died in a Columbia Hospital late Monday night after an illness of one month.
Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside in the Dempsey Cemetery at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning by the Rev. Gaines Mason. Evergreen Lodge 153, A.F.M., will also take part.
Mr. Dempsey was born in Hampton County, son of the late Frank and Alma Peeples Dempsey.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Erma Mixson Dempsey; four daughters, Juanita, Shirley, Patricia and Laverne Dempsey, all of Varnville; one adopted daughter, Vonel Connelly, and two adopted sons, Billy and Charles Connelly, all of Varnville, and one sister, Mrs. Wretha Martin of Charleston.
