Ralph Edwin Bloomfield
Funeral services for Ralph Edwin Bloomfield, 80, of Hector were conducted on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2:00 p.m., at the First Lutheran Church in Hector. Officiating was Rev. W. Burdette Benson. The organist was Mrs. Lorraine O'Malley and vocal music was by Rev. and Mrs. Kenton Larsson.
Pallbearers were Clark Calef, James Johnson, Alden Hardwick, Ralph Larson, Gayle Krantz and Rolland Moore.
Honorary pallbearers were Walter Swanson, Fred Roebke, Delwood Wolff, Wesley Engebretson, Herbert Ekblad, Nick Haspert, Archie Swenson and Cal Kullberg. Interment was in the Hector City Cemetery.
Ralph Edwin Bloomfield was born on May 13, 1905, at Rio (Knox County) Illinois, the youngest child of John Ellis and Rosa Coziahr Bloomfield. He was baptized in Illinois.
He married Theodora Louise Krantz on May 13, 1939 and to this union were born one daughter and three sons.
Ralph farmed in Illinois and in 1953 moved to a farm at Isanti, Minnesota. He later worked at Cambridge State Hospital and served as a custodian at Vasa Lutheran Church, before moving to Hector in 1971.
He was very active in church throughout his life and enjoyed woodworking and giving his projects to friends. He passed away Saturday, Dec. 28 at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia after spending the last nine months at the Olivia Health Care Center. He attained the age of 80 years, seven months and 15 days.
He is survived by his wife Theodora of Hector, by one daughter Nancy and her husband Donald Bottemiller of Wadena, by three sons, Ellis of Wanamingo, Roger and his wife Mary of Colorado Springs, Co., and Ralph Jr., and his wife Susan of Ramsey. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, one brother Willard and by four sisters, Amy Richardson, Grace Russell, Ruth Bloomfield and Merle Bloomfield.
