Orman E. "Gene" Yount, 76, of Kittanning RD6 (Manor Township) died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003 at Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born March 2, 1927 in Rural Valley to John and Mary (Smail) Yount.
Mr. Yount was employed by Trader Horn, Kittanning, where he had worked for five years. For 46 years he worked as an automobile service manager at McGregor Motors, Indiana, West Penn Chevrolet, Leechburg; Keddie Chevrolet, Vandergrift; and retiring from Guido Oldsmobile, Kittanning. He also worked for S&S Ceramics, Dykes Automotive and Paul's Auto Parts, all of Kittanning.
He served in the Navy during World War II. He was stationed on the USS Savannah.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Freeport, and had been a councilman for Christ Rupp Lutheran Church, Kittanning Township, for 13 years.
He was a lifetime member of the Kittanning Veterans of Foreign Wars with a membership of more than 50 years.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Edna P. (Freedline) Yount whom he married Sept. 27, 1973; five sons, John W. Yount of Creighton, Raymond Yount of Rochester Mills, Orman E. Yount Jr. of Leechburg, David Yount of Indiana, and Gary Yount of Homer City; two daughters, Christine Muir of Cherry Tree and Mrs. Anthony (Renee) Ferraro of North Huntingdon; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one stepdaughter, Mrs. Ronald (Vickie) Stitt of Kittanning; three brothers, Homer Yount of Indiana, Richard Yount of Elyria, Ohio, and Fred Yount of Florida; three sisters, Mrs. George (Eileen) Deyarmin and Mrs. Richard (Donna) Wyatt, both of Indiana, and Mrs. Harold (Rose) Harmon of Tionesta; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth Yount; one sister, Virginia Cheskey; one half-brother, Harry Yount; and one stepson, Floyd D. Bowser.
YOUNT — Friends of Orman E. "Gene" Yount, 76, of Kittanning RD6 (Manor Township), who died Aug. 23, 2003 will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home, Inc., 253 N. Grant Ave., Kittanning, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with his pastor, the Rev. James F. Neal of Trinity Lutheran Church, Freeport, officiat-ing. Burial will be at Christ Rupp Lutheran Church Cemetery. Arrangements by Kennedy & Blodgett.
