street, on Wednesday. He had been
ill since December first;.
Mr. Baxter wa s born in Ireland, May 7, 1872, the son or
Phillip and Ellen (McGauran) Baxter. At the ago of 12 years, he came to America.
He became a Gardner and florist of much ability.
He came to Peekskill in 1907 and
became gardner florist for Daniel Odell. Previous to that he held the
same position with William Rockefeller, William Douglas and other large estates in the vicinity of Tarrytown. Four years ago h e went into the florist business for himself and had a lucrative trade.
On April 21, 1898, Mr. Baxter married Ella Hartnell. She died March
29, 1922.
The deceased was a member of the Holy Name Society of the Church of the Assumption, of Peek-skill Council, No. 1945, Royal Arcanum and of the Owls.
He is survived by three daughters, Mary, Helen and Margaret, six sons, John, William, Edward, Francis. Joseph and Vincent. Also four brothers, Rev. Edward Baxter, of Hopewell Junction, N. Y., the Rev. Michael Baxter, of Mount Vernon: Thomas, of Des Moines, Iowa: Philip, of Yonkers; two sisters, Miss Catherine Raster, of Tarrytown:
