Carole Kersbergen "Ms. Muff" passed away at the age of 80 on Thursday, February 23 at the Anchorage Pioneer Home. Services will be held Saturday, March 3rd at 2 pm at the Anchorage Baptist Temple. The opportunity to share a memory will be provided.
Carole was born October 27th 1931 in Newkirk Iowa. Carole grew up much as many traditional hard working farm girls, working from dawn to dusk. Chores such as churning cream, gathering eggs and rekindling the kitchen stove with corn cobs were some of the many stories she shared. Carole attended Central College in Pella Iowa where she graduated with her teaching degree. In 1952 she married her superintendent's son, Max Kersbergen, and they celebrated 59 years of marriage this past summer. They moved to Anchorage in 1975 and have been residence of Alaska for 36 years.
She began working for First National Bank in 1976 at the Parkway branch. Carole had a way of making her customers and friends feel special and their needs important. Her fellow employees became an extension of her family always greeted with acceptance, love and often their favorite baked goodies. She served with pride and dignity for 21 years with First National Bank retiring in 1997. She was known by many as the "Lemon Drop Lady" believing beyond providing a professional service, a sugar lemon drop and a hug could make anyone's day better. Carole's love for her Lord Jesus Christ radiated to all that knew her, finding joy singing in the church choir, playing the organ and baking for church gatherings.
Carole's most meaningful reward and passion throughout her life were the smiles and laughter of her dear family along side of her and the banter of her children during family get-togethers and times with her grand and great grand children. Nothing gave Carole more pleasure than being surrounded by those she loved most. Visiting Carole's home always meant leaving with a full stomach and joyful heart. She will be sorely missed and never forgotten by family and friends. There is no question that the mold was broken when Carole Kersbergen was made.
She is preceded in death by her brother James Huygens and sister Gertrude Huygens. She is survived by her husband Max Kersbergen; brother Clarence & Joanne Huygens; son, Kim & Patty Kersbergen, daughter Cheri Wallick, Steve Wallick, son John Kersbergen, son Chris & Paula Kersbergen; grand children Michael Kersbergen, Bradley Kersbergen, Sarah Lopez, Mary Urbina, Peter Wallick, Jaime Kersbergen, Derek Coleman and Lindsey Morris; great grand children, Collette Kersbergen, Gabriele Kersbergen, Kalani Kersbergen, Kayleah Lopez, Lyric Lopez, Ethan Morris, Malina Morris and Adelynn Coleman.
As Heaven opens its gates to receive you mom, we know the words that await you are "welcome home my good and faithful servant"
