Peter J. "Pete" Piro, 79, died Thursday, March 8, 2012, at York Hospital. Pete was the loving husband of Shirley (Few) Piro for four years.

Viewings will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 2114 W. Market St., and 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Church, 321 S. George St., York. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Robert M. Gillelan, Jr. V.F. as celebrant.

Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery.

Mr. Piro was born June 17, 1932, in York, a son of the late Anthony Piro and Josephine (LoBianco) Piro Sterner.

He was a truck driver/ owner/operator serving LoBianco Trucking and P. A. and S. Small Company. He was a member of St. Mary's Church. He was also a member of the Prince AA, Viking AA, 9th Ward, 12th Ward, and 13th Ward social clubs, and The VFW West York post.

Pete is survived by his wife, Shirl; sons, Joseph Piro and his wife, Patty, and Shane Coble and his fiancee, Sherri of York; daughter, Toni Lugger of Alaska; grandchildren, Noah and Owen, Hailey, and Nicholas; a brother, Joseph; a sister, Trina; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Piro.
