When James Levi Ackerman was born on November 19, 1900, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, his father, Daniel, was 36 and his mother, Mary, was 35. He married Kathryn Elizabeth Seifert and they had four children together. Jim, his wife and 2 oldest children were in LA during the stock market crash and the first couple years of the depression. They moved back to Massillon in 1933 so he could get better work. Several years later he started his own furnace business and was very successful. He was a wonderful cook and made all of the big holiday meals. He then married Marie Agnes Haubert and they had three children together. He died on March 23, 1988, in Massillon, Ohio, at the age of 87, and was buried there in St Mary's Cemetery.
