Alcinda was the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Kellar Miller. She married Hugh Devier Sr. in Virgina, March 22, 1847. Hugh and Alcinda eventually moved to Boone County, Missouri and settled on a crude piece of land given to Hugh by his Grandfather that he had purchased in 1818. He and Alcinda built a home and with hard work and skillful management he turned the 428 acres into one of the best farms in the county. Hugh and Alcinda raised eight children on this farm.
