OBITUARY
Rose Ann Allen, daughter of William and Eliza Allen, was born in Perry county, Ills., Feb. 27, 1859, and departed this life Aug. 7, 1943, at 7:15 at her home at Winchester, Kansas. So closed a long, fruitful and blessed life.
She lived her early childhood near Coulterville, Ills., where she received her schooling. she was united in marriage to Mr. John Adams, of Oakdale, Ills., Jan. 29, 1880, who preceded her in death. To this union were born 6 sons and 2 daughters. One daughter and two sons preceded her in death. Surviving are four sons, Ellsworth W., Coin, Iowa; Elmer H. and Robert, Winchester, and Ira E., Fresno, Calif., and one daughter, Mrs. Anna E. Lucas, of Essex, Iowa; also there were 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, who were loved by the grandmother as her own children.
Mr. and Mrs. John Adams started housekeeping on a farm in Nuckolls county, Neb. They resided there 27 years, and were charter members of Beulah Reformed Presbyterian church. In 1906 they moved to Winchester, Kas.
As a young girl Mrs. Adams was reared in a Christian home and at the age of 15 she united with the United Presbyterian church of which she remained a member until her marriage when she united with the Reformed Presbyterian church with her husband at Beulah, Neb., of which she remained a faithful member till death took her to the assembly of the Saints above.
Mrs. Adams was true and living wife and mother; to know her was to love her. she was most appreciative of all kindness and service rendered to her, and in return nothing was too much for her to do for her loved ones. The Bible was her favorite book, having read it through every year for a number of years.
Mrs. Adams leaves to mourn her departure, beside children and grandchildren, two brothers, Dan Allen and Edd Allen, both of California; 4 sisters, Marguerite Huey, Hannah Henderson and Lillian Harris, Lincoln, Neb., and Nancy Snavely, of Colo., and a host of other relatives and friends.
She looked well to the ways of her household and eateth not the bread of idleness.
