James Lewis Abercrombie, age 68, widower of Barbara Abercrombie, died Friday, July 13, 2001, at his retirement home in Waterloo. Born and raised in Simpsonville, Mr. Abercrombie was the son of the late John and Kate Abercrombie and a retired Air Force veteran.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Sherrie Abercrombie of Simpsonville; a daughter, Lori Palange of Gainesville, Ga.; and four grandchildren, Michael Chandler, Josh Gilleland, James Scott Abercrombie II and Kaitlin Abercrombie.
Funeral services will be held today at 1pm at The Cathedral, with the Rev. Bill McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Cannon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends tonight from 7-9pm at Cannon Funeral Home-Jones Chapel.
The family is at 106 Stenhouse Road, Simpsonville. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorials to The Cathedral, 130 Neely Ferry Road, Simpsonville, SC. Published in The Greenville News on July 16, 2001.
