PETERSHAM, Massachusetts -- The Assumption Community of Petersham and the Bercier family mourns the loss of their dear Sister Therese Bercier who passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 7, 2010.

Sister Therese, 95, whose former religious name was Sister Sainte Andrea, was born in Salem, the daughter of the late George and the late Claudia (Levesque) served as a Sister of the Assumption for the past 79 years.

In the ministry of education, Sister Therese was well loved by the students of Indian Orchard, Lowell, Southbridge, Brockton, Everett and Salem and Barton, Vt. She assumed administrative duties in Petersham and Southbridge.

Sister Therese is survived by nieces and nephews and her beloved companions of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Assumption. Her body will be waked at Assumption Residence on Tuesday, March 9, from 2 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the chapel of Assumption Residence at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 10.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of the Assumption Retirement Fund, addressed to 211 North Main St., Petersham, Mass. 01366.

The J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home is directing funeral arrangements.
