OBITUARY :
CHARLES ALBERT WATKINS, 89, of Hagerstown, died on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at Avalon Manor Nursing Home.

Born February 26, 1917 in New York City, he was the son of the late Daniel A. and Flora Savilla Gassman Watkins.

He was a 1935 graduate of Hagerstown High School and a 1939 graduate of Carnegie Institute.

He taught mechanical drawing at St. Mary's High School and was employed with Pangborn Corporation as a mechanical engineer for 39 years, retiring in 1979.

He was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a member of Trinity Foundation, and previously served as Benevolence Treasurer, Foundation Board Member, chairman of the Church Messenger and a member of the Church Council.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edna Irene Watkins; a daughter, Anne Elizabeth Thayer and husband Donald of Hagerstown; a son, Daniel B. Watkins of Proctor, West Virginia; and three grandchildren, Rhonda Richards of Rockville, Md., Elliott Richards of Chambersburg, Pa. and Susannah J. Rhodes of Hagerstown.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 15 Randolph Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland. The Rev. Quentin J. Fleming and Rev. Robert Lehman will officiate. Burial will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Concert Series, 15 Randolph Avenue, Hagerstown, Md. 21740.
