Edward "Ed" Matus, 83, of Ford City died Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, in the Butler Hospital and went to be with the love of his life, his wife, Coralee.

He was born on March 3, 1933, in Logansport to Martin and Pauline (Schmela) Matus.

Ed formerly worked at PPG Industries, Linde Air, Penreco, and also worked at Murray's Electric and retired from Preston Trucking in Ford City. He was the former owner of The Office Restaurant and Lounge and was former owner of the Co-Ed Beauty Salon with his wife.

He was a member of the Christ, Prince of Peace Parish.

A Korean War veteran, he served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the Ford City Eagles and was a former member of the Kittanning Masonic Lodge and the Syria Shrine.

He was well known for his quick wit and words of wisdom and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

Survivors include daughter, Kori and Steve Russo of Ford City; daughter-in-law, Karen "Kik" Matus; and three grandchildren, Ali Rae Matus, Dominic and Nicholas Russo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Coralee (Fichthorn) Matus, who died Dec. 23, 2004; his son, Eddie Mike Matus; three brothers, Frank "Buck" Matus, Martin Matus, and John "Yonk" Matus; and four sisters, Julie Matus, Rose Cacurak, Frances Zydonik, and Lois Kluciar.

Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Wedneday and 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Mantini Funeral Home Inc., 701 Sixth Ave., Ford City. A Prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Christ, Prince of Peace Parish, 718 Fourth Ave., Ford City with Father Alan Grote officiating. Interment will be in Ford City Cemetery.
