Scio, NY - Dorothy A. Bish of 5644 County Road 31A, passed away Wednesday (March 4, 2009) in Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Born January 19, 1929 in Bradford, PA, she was the daughter of Stanley D. and Edna L. Hillsinger Potter.

Mrs. Bish had been a resident of Scio for the past 7 years. She was employed by the former Warner's Bakery in Olean, and later by AVX, now Olean Advanced Products. She was a member of the Maplehurst Baptist Church and a former member ofthe Faye Hollow Sunshine Club. She loved playing bingo and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, needlework and planting a garden.

Surviving is her lifetime companion, William D. Showers, Sr.; 4 daughters, Bonnie (Sherman) Neal of Scio, Betty Langdon of Franklinville, Ezora (Chris) Blade of Scio and Patricia (Wayne) Middaugh of Scio; 3 sons, Charles (Laurie) Bish, Jr of Gainsville, TX, E. Scott (Ruth) Bish of Olean and William Showers, Jr of Scio; 34 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; 3 sisters, Clara Belle Rizzo of Gowanda, Shirley Barber of Oregon and Alice Jeannette McLaughlin of Belmont, NY; 1 brother, Stanley D. (Betsy) Potter of Indiana and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by 1 daughter, Brenda Randall on June 26, 2008; 1 grandson; 2 brothers, Donald L. Potter and Richard Dale Potter; 2 sisters, Betty Howe and Bertha Bish; and her husband Charles J. Bish Sr.

Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
