DeWayne Derro Dahl, 70, of Grants Pass, died Friday, Feb. 3, 1989, at Josephine Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors with the Rev. Russ Gibson of Jerome Prairie Bible Church officiating; the Fleet Reserve Association will assist.

He was born June 29, 1918, in Waubay, S.D. He moved from Pasadena, Calif., to Grants Pass in 1931 and graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1937. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was named Chief Bighorn of the Oregon Cavemen in 1948, and was a member of Eagles Aerie 2146, Elks Lodge BPOE 1584 and Fleet Reserve Association Branch 11. Prior to retirement, he was a builder and contractor for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Annie; his son, Doug Dahl of Grants Pass, stepsons, Ben L. Watts and Fred Watts, both of Williams; and his daughter, Susie Barker of Portland, stepdaughters, Teresa Moak of Grants Pass, and Yvonne Lindquist of Medford; his sisters, Carol Broderick of Klamath Falls and Donna Auestad of Portland; and 11 grandchildren.

1st wife: Mary Eleanor McQuity married June 6, 1941 no children, divorced April 11, 1946, died Sept 22, 1946 of tuberculosis.
2nd wife: Inez Mae Meyer married Oct 9, 1946 died 7-21-1968
