Valerie Shaw Hartzell  (25)

Wife of Randy Hartzell
Mother of Damien Hartzell

Valerie Shaw-Hartzell, newscaster for a Tulsa radio station, vanished May 24, 1984 -- along with her pickup truck -- in the midst of her weekly shopping.
On May 25, she was sighted at two different drive-up banks, in the company of an unidentified man, as she tried to cash personal checks. Unsuccessful in her first attempt, she obtained $500 at the second stop -- and then vanished. Her body was later found in Claremore, OK.

Valerie was a graduate of Mason High School. She spent 3 years at Oklahoma State University and one year at the University of Tulsa, before going to work for a Tulsa radio station. She loved people and getting out there and interviewing everyone. She was very outgoing.

Valerie was survived by her husband, Randy; son, Damien; her parents and 2 sisters, Veronica and Victoria.

4 women and 1 man was murdered, in this 19 day murder spree. The murderer was put to death by lethal injection in 2000.

Valerie, you will not be forgotten, you will live on in the hearts of those that love you.

Valerie was our neighbor behind us at the time and a friend. She gave me my first Mothers Day card for the "Mother-To-Be", when I had just found out I was expecting. I still have it and it means so much to me.
