Dallas F. Behnke, 68, of Sheboygan Falls passed away unexpectedly on March 10, 2012, after a sudden illness at St. Lukes Medical Center in Milwaukee.

He was born May 20, 1943 in Manitowoc, WI, the son of Geraldine (Junk) Behnke and Ferdinand Behnke. He graduated from Lincoln High School, and then served his country in the US Air Force. Over the years, he employed his passion for automation and control engineering. Ultimately, he launched Behnke Controls and serviced many companies throughout Southeastern Wisconsin.

Dallas was an avid community activist. He devoted his time to the American Legion Post 261 where he served as Commander at the time of his death. He also volunteered his time and leadership to local chapters of the Civil Air Patrol, EAA, Jaycees, and Kiwanis International. In addition, he was an active member of Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church since 1980. He served various roles for the congregation, including Chairman of the Building Committee for which he provided oversight for the congregation's new worship facility.

He was most proud of his family. He married Karen Becker on June 19, 1965, and during their 47-year marriage, had seven children, Katherine (Jim) Partain of Springfield, VA, Dallas II (Sue) of Sheboygan, Denver (Roberta) of Greensboro, NC, Dayton (Misty) of Grafton, Kirsten of Seattle, WA, Kelly (Steve) Katz of Manitowoc, and Kari (Collin) McCaffery of Austin, TX. He was the loving grandfather of Emily, Tyler, Violet, William, Karli, Grace, Alayna, Arabelle, Abigail and Liam.

In addition to his wife and children, survivors include his mother, Geraldine Behnke of Manitowoc; brothers, Fritz (Audrey) Behnke and Les (Esther) Behnke both of Manitowoc; and his in-laws, LouAnne (Becker) Thoni of Janesville and Donald (Theresa) Becker of Waukesha. He was preceded in death by his father, Ferdinand; a granddaughter, Paige Amelia and in-laws, Louise Becker Kempfert, Orville Becker, Sr, Orville (Sharon) Becker, Jr., Paul Kempfert and John Thoni.

Visitation and Funeral Services will be held at Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church, 2132 N 27th St, Sheboygan, WI on Thursday, March 15. Visitation will be held 4:00 to 7:00 pm, followed immediately by the Funeral Service at 7:00 pm with Rev. Timothy Kuske officiating. Burial will be in Sheboygan Falls Cemetery with military rites accorded.
