The Rev. Arthur R. Hornback, 89, of Columbus died Sunday evening, March 28, 2004, at Lake Wales, Fla.

The Rev. Hornback was a retired Wesleyan minister. He was a graduate of Union Bible Seminary in Westfield and had been pastor of churches affiliated with Missionary Bands of the World and the Wesleyan Church in Indiana, Ohio and Florida. He served on the general board of Missionary Bands of the World and was secretary-treasurer when the organization merged with the Wesleyan Methodist Church.

He was a member of Gnawbone Wesleyan Church.

For a number of years, he was an Electrolux sweeper salesman.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Inlow & Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Paul Mills officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from noon until service time Friday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Ohio Street Wesleyan Church.

Born in Columbus Oct. 3, 1914, the Rev. Hornback was the son of Ira and Minnie Elizabeth Holton Hornback. He married Helen Edel Wilson in 1933.

Survivors include daughters, Lorene Zuch of Columbus and Ruth McCoy of Davenport, Fla.; sons, Milburn Hornback of West York, Ill., and David Hornback of Huntington; sisters, Nellie J. Jones of Columbus and Mary A. Neal of Seymour; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1961; an infant son, Ray Hornback; brothers, Charles and Ralph Hornback and Harold Hornbeck; and sisters, Mabel Whittington and Edith Brant.
