A retired millwright/machinist for Kaiser Aluminum in Baton Rouge and a longtime resident of Plaquemine, he passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012. He was 90 and a native of Marial, Oregon. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre during World War II. Visiting at First Baptist Church, Plaquemine on Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 10 a.m. until religious services at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. Keith Horton. Interment at Grace Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Jessie Bouanchaud Billings; daughter, Debra Billings; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Darlene Billings, and Craig and Marilyn Billings; a sister, Darlene Beard; 2 brothers, Fred and Don Billings; 5 grandchildren, Dawn Autin and husband Tony, Callie Hooper and husband Lance, Christy Barras and husband Brock, Chris Billings and fiancée Minny Nguyen, and Michael Billings; 5 greatgrandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Fremin; and numerous family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Evered and Evalyne Billings; sister-in-law, Catherine Winkle; and brother-in-law, Ira "Bud" Winkle. Pallbearers will be Tony Autin, Lance Hooper, Brock Barras, Chris and Michael Billings, and Donald Winkle. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved Camp 5 and was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Plaquemine Post. Special thanks to Feliciana Home Health, OLOL 5th floor, Plaquemine Caring and staff especially Connie Pourciau, Dr. Greene, Dr. Helm and Dr. Patrick; especially Francis and Rusty Haydel, Earl and Lyndia Crochet, Ralph and Brenda Babin, Noel and Donna Murano, Wesley Johnson, Tommy LeBlanc, Johnny and Gwen Gum and St. Louis Hunting Club - Camp 5 for their loving care and devotion.
