Wife of Martin Long

THE LARNED CHRONOSCOPE
Larned, Kansas
Thursday, November 27, 1919

MRS. MARTIN LONG

Mrs. Martin Long was born in Ross county, Ohio, August 21st, 1846, and died at her home in Larned, Kansas, November 19th, 1919, ate 73 years, 2 months and 28 days.

On January 15, 1868, she was married to Martin Long. Her husband deceased a little more than sixteen months ago. They lived together for more than half a century. It might be said of them: "They were pleasant in their lives and in their death they were not divided."

Since the death of her husband she has faced life bravely, still there was made a vacancy that time did not fill. Some four months ago she was taken ill, and all that physicians and loving hands could do for her recovery was done, but in vain to restore her to health. Her loving Father, whom she loved and in whom she trusted, took her to live with Him.

The deceased was a splendid Christian woman. At the time of her death she was a member of the Larned Methodist church, and was a most faithful member. Her home was a place of prayer, there the family altar was maintained. She leaves to mourn her departure five children: William A. of Oregon City, Oregon; Orval O. of Lewis, Kansas; Allison M. of Belpre, Kansas; Mrs. A. E. Kinnamon of Cimarron, Kansas; and Mrs. M. H. Webber of Haggard, Kansas, besides her grandchildren and a large circle of friends.

She will be greatly missed, but we should not wish her back, for she goes to share the companionship of loved ones gone before and of her Savior.

Her funeral service was held from the Larned Methodist church Friday afternoon, November 21st, conducted by her pastor, Rev. I. D. Harris. It was attended by a large crowd, after which interment was made in the Larned cemetery.
