Murry Dickson's Wife Dies Today

Mrs. Julia Dickson, 45, 1539 Ottawa, wife of Murry Dickson, well-known retired major league baseball pitcher, died this morning at Cushing Memorial Hospital. She had been a patient three weeks and had been in failing health for several years.

Mrs. Dickson was born Feb. 12, 1917, in Cherokee, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benton Wood. The family came to Leavenworth when she was a young girl. She attended local public schools and Leavenworth High School and was married to Murry Dickson in Leavenworth on Feb. 28, 1939.

Mrs. Dickson had traveled throughout the United States with her husband, both in spring training and during the baseball season. After Murry's retirement they came back to Leavenworth to make their home. Mrs. Dickson was a member of the First Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband, one daughter, Miss Donna Gail Dickson, and one son, Steven Murray Dickson, all of the home; her mother, Mrs. Alta Wood, 515 N. 11th; one brother, Benton Wood, in the armed services [Air Force] in California, and two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Barnwell, 2310 S. 4th and Mrs. Bennica Horn, Kansas City, Kan.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Sexton Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Charles Schneeberger, pastor of the First Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends can call at the chapel.
