She was born on January 15, 1928 in Wheeling, West Virginia, daughter of the late William D. Brewer and Harriet M. Brestle Brewer.
In addition to her parents, Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald T. "Jerry" Burgess.
Surviving are her four children, Janette (David) Zeik of Bridgeport, William D. (Cathy) Burgess of St. Clairsville, Karen (Paul) Bickmeier of Shadyside and Lori (Tim) Bouman of Cincinnati; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.
Billie was a retired seamstress with Stone and Thomas in Wheeling. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheeling and St. Johns Lutheran Church in Martins Ferry. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Bridgeport Chapter # 452; the Fort Henry Piece Makers, and the Red Hat Society of Wheeling.
Although our hearts are saddened and her presence will be missed by all; we rejoice in knowing that she no longer will see the Lord through faith, but stand beside Him along with others who have been waiting for her.
Family and friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until time of services at 12:30 p.m., with Rev. Robert A. Coupe officiating.
Burial will follow at Belmont County Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Clairsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
