Annie Laura Throssel was born at East Riding in Yorkshire England, April 17, 1849. She immigrated to the United States where she married John William Wilson. During the Civil War John, then a resident at Garden Grove, Iowa, enlisted as a private for 3 years on August 15, 1861. He was mustered into Company L, 3rd Iowa Cavalry, September 12, 1861. John was promoted to 2nd Corporal January 1, 1862; 3rd Sergeant August 1, 1862; and 2nd Sergeant June 1, 1863. He re-enlisted and was re-mustered February 2, 1864. John was mustered out at Atlanta, Georgia, August 9, 1865. Her husband filed for a Civil War veteran's disability pension June 29, 1880, and received application No. 401,356 and certificate No. 788,361. After John's death in California Annie filed for a Civil War widow's pension on February 15, 1911, and received application No. 958,494 and certificate No. 731,630. Her certificate was converted to No. XC 2,684, 290 by the new Veterans Administration in 1932.

Funeral services for Mrs. Annie L. Wilson, 92, McMinnville, were held Wednesday afternoon in Macy's Chapel. She died Sunday at Newberg. A long-time Oregon resident, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Sarah E. Staats of McMinnville, Mrs. Jessie Bump of Monmouth, and Mrs. Oca Holt of Marshfield, two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Belt of Yamhill and Mrs. Rose Hutchcroft of McMinnville; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
