Helen M. Higgins, 91 of Hannibal died at 9:05 AM Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 3:30 PM at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Pastor Michael Stoerger will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hannibal.
Visitation will be held from 2:30 PM until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Higgins was born on March 4, 1918 in Hannibal to Albert Wade and Minnie Susan Jenkins Moore.
She was married on March 18, 1939 in Hannibal to Lester Higgins Sr. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1997.
Survivors include Two sons, Jack Higgins Sr. of Frankford, MO and Lester Higgins (Susan) of La Grange, MO; One sister, Iva Beatrice Moore of Hannibal; Five grandchildren, Alan Waelder and David Waelder both of Hannibal, Jackie Lee Higgins Jr. (Erika) of Palmyra, MO, Bryan Higgins of Columbia, MO, Morgan Higgins of Quincy, IL, several great grandchildren, and One sister-in-law, Ella Gleack.
She was preceded in death by her parents, One daughter, Connie O'Brien, One son, Russell Higgins, Two infant sons Harold F. Higgins and Michael E. Higgins, One brother Roy K. Moore, and Three sisters, Myrtle Jones, Irene Grandstaff and Dorothy Taylor.
Helen was employed for many years at the International Shoe Company, Standard Printing Company, Rival, and the Holiday Inn. She was a resident of Beth Haven Nursing Home from February 13, 2004 until her death.
Pallbearers will be Stephen McCann, Ron Walley, Bryan Higgins, David Waelder, Alan Waelder, and Jack Higgins.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Josh Waelder and Clayton Waelder
