She was the daughter of the famous silent and early sound actors, Ben Lyon and Bebe Daniels, and although born in Hollywood, California, U.S.A. spent almost all her life in England. The sunshine years of her life were when she acted with her (adopted) brother, Richard, and her parents as "Life With The Lyons" -- a highly popular series on BBC radio from 1950 to 1961. During the mid 1950s she found some popularity as a singer and had two hits in the UK Singles charts. But this was short lived. She then tried acting again and had her own brief television series in 1955 "Dream Time With Barbara". The following year she married the programme's producer Russell Turner. This ended in divorce. And in 1968 she married again to an accountant, Colin Burkitt, and they had one son, but this also ended in divorce. She spent her last years alone, unhappily forgotten, with constant health and financial problems and died of cerebral hemorrhage in the West Middlesex Hospital, Isleworth, London, England, aged 63.
