Lilyan (Lil) B. Abbott, 89, of Pleasantview Drive in Lancaster, Ohio went to be with her Lord Thursday, March 15, 2012.

Lil was born July 22, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois, the youngest of three sisters of Ludwick and Helen Jurek.

She was married to James Abbott for 54 years until his death in 2001 and together they raised four children.

Lil was an accountant/bookkeeper and worked for many organizations during her life, Saint Mary's of the Springs College in Columbus, Ohio, St. Mary's Church Rectory in Lancaster and as Administrative Director at United Way in Lancaster for over 20 years until she retired from that position in 1987. She performed volunteer work in the ER at Fairfield Medical Center folloing hrr retirememt. She was wel known and admired throghout the community in Lancaster. She enjoyed gardening, cooking & baking, and maintaining unbelievebly detailed records of both a financial and personal nature. She was especially fond of birds and animals and loved her many dogs over the years.

In addition to her husband, James, Lil was also preceded in death by her parents; her oldest daughter, Ruth Ellen Abbott in 2004 and her dear friend Carolies Schmelzer.

Mrs. Abbott left behind her oldest son, Paul, her youngest son Philip and his wife Jayme Bednarczk; her youngest daughter Carol; granddaughter, Katherine; great-grandson, Jackson James Pittman; her older sister, Sophie Jurek; her niece, Christine Dolgopol; and her two special angels, Cecelia Mullin and Claire Smith as well as many other special friends and neighbor to mourn her loss.

The family would like to thank all who visited Lilyan during her illnes and also thank the staff at Crestview for their excellent care of Mrs. Abbott.

Mrs Abbott donated he remains to Ohio Stat University College of Medicine in order to continue giving to others even in death. Cremation will follow, at which time a memorial Mass will be arranged at St. Mary';s Church in Lancaster.

Interment following the Mass will be at family plot at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will advise other family members and friends when these events are going to take place.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Lilyan's name made to Pilot Dogs, Inc. 625 West Town Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
