Edward was the son of Peter Voll and Minnie Katzenberger. On 22 May 1912 he married Catherine Meiners and they had nine children: Paul, Mary, Carmel, Aloysius, Doris, Bernice, John, Anthony, and Donald. Early in life Edward was a laborer in a wagon works. For most of his adult life he was a housepainter. He died of a coronary occlusion at his home, 912 Shelby Parkway, at the age of 67.
