PASSING ON OF CITY'S YOUNGER BUSINESS MAN
WAS GENERAL MANGER OF GRAND ISLAND'S LARGEST COMMERCIAL ESTABLISHMENT

Lawrence Grey Donald, son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Donald, third vice-president, assistant general manger and assistant to the president of The Donald Company, passed on at 10:45 o'clock, Monday evening, after an illness of some three years. 'Jack' the companionable name under which he was known ever since his boyhood days, was one of the city's finest and most promising young business men.

He was born in Grand Island on June 30th, 1894. He attended the public schools and at the end of the second year in high school matriculated in the Mercersberg, Pa., academy, where he closely pursued his studies for two years, thereupon entering the extensive wholesale business established by his father and working himself up to the position of buyer and to the official capacities already mentioned. This was in 1912.

He enlisted in the service of the country, during the World war, on March 1st, 1918 and served to the end of the war, his duties being in the quartermaster's office at Washington.

He married Miss Roma Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Williams on May 29, 1917 and the union has been blessed with a son and a daughter, William John (Billy) and Margaret (Peggy).

Upon his honorable discharge from the service, after the armistice was signed, he returned to the business of the company, to which he gave concentrated and efficient service until taken more severely ill.

He was a member of the Presbyterian church, of the Elks and Masonic Lodges and of the American Legion.

The funeral will take place from his home, 820 West Second street, on Wednesday afternoon, at 2:00 o'clock, the Rev. Mr. Glen Rice, pastor of the Presbyterian church, officiating.
The loss is not only that of the devoted wife, and children, and parents, but is one in which the entire community shares with the sincerest sympathy
