Mr. Donald was born May 12, 1862, in Kilmarnoch, Ayrshire, Scotland, and came to the United States at the age of 18. He was at one time vice-president of the U. S. Wholesale Grocery Association. In his earlier years he was active in both the Masonic and Elks Lodges, and he was the oldest member of Ashlar Lodge No. 33, as well as a life member. He became a member of the Masonic lodge in Scotland. He held the Jordan Medal, given the oldest member of each Masonic lodge in Nebraska. That medal now passes on to Charles E. McElroy.
