Elijah Deering, 60, of Rt. 3, Fairgrounds Road, Lebanon, died at 11 a.m. May 29, 1984 at his residence.

Mr. Deering was a native of Marion County and a member of the Lebanon Baptist Church. He was a mechanic. His parents were the late Owen Fox, Sr. and Mary Liza Hayden Deering.

Survivors include: his wife, Lucille Atwood Deering; three daughters, Peggy Lou Tucker, Linda Carol Bell, Gloria Jean Hines of Lebanon; three sons, David Lee Deering of Elkhorn, Donnie Ray Deering of Lebanon and Joe Grigsby(grandson) at home; four sisters, Mrs. Henry Pendygraft and Mrs. Robert Raley of Lebanon, Mrs. Tommy Wheeler of Campbellsville and Mrs. Patsy Craig of Louisville; three brothers, John Henry and Paul Clellan of Lebanon and Bobby Ray Deering of Campbellsville; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. May 31 at Campbell Funeral Home with burial in Ryder Cemetery.
Rev. Gary Stringer officiated.

Pallbearers were Johnny Tucker, Bobby Sallee, Gary Long, Randy Deering and Dana Deering.
