Effie May Maphet was born 13 Jun 1871 in Xenia, Douglas, Kansas to John Robert Maphet and Alice C Munger. Her father served in the Civil War for the Union 9th Calvary of Kansas. His father also served in the 15th Calvary of Kansas and he entered the war when he was 47. J.R. became a railroad man and the family traveled around. On 6 Aug 1888 Effie married Alvin J Maxwell in Reno Co, Kansas. Alvin brought his young family into the Cherokee strip Land Run to settle into Kingfisher Co. where they remained and Effie lived until her death in 1957. Effie and Alvin had 10 children together. Effie had a big farm house in the Loyal community where she remained after Alvin's death in 1919. The Maphet and Maxwell family would get together for family gatherings out there on Sundays. Effie's oldest brother John Arthur lived at Meno with his large family so there was always lots of kids around. Effie and Alvin's children were: Chloe E,1889, John A,1890,Clarence C,1892, Alice M,1896, Ella Fay,1898, Lawrence Scott,1900, Cora E,1904, Jason Robert,1907, Opal E,1913 and Ruth Allena, 1915.
