Web City Man Dies From Injuries Received When Struck by Delivery Truck
Web. City, Mo., May 4. – Funeral services for A.L. Edwards, 74 years old, 715 West Second street, a retired school teacher, who died at 6 o’clock this morning in Jane Chinn hospital of injuries suffered when struck early Wednesday afternoon by a delivery truck of the Model Towel Supply Company of Joplin at Broadway and Liberty street, will be conducted at 2:30 o’clock Monday afternoon at the Webb City Undertaking Company funeral home. The Rev. John G. Hilton, pastor of the Presbyterian church, will be in charge. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial park at Joplin. Coroner W. G. Hogan of Neck City said today that no inquest will be held. The truck was driven by C.D. Bell of Joplin. In his report of the accident to police here, Bell said he was traveling east on Broadway and Edwards, who was walking north on Liberty street, started to cross the street in front of the truck and apparently did not see it. According to Bell, Edwards jumped out of the way of the truck and then, apparently became confused, jumped again into the path of the approaching Car. Edwards came here ten years ago from Bunker Hill, Kan., where he and Mrs. Edwards had taught school for several years. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Eva M. Edwards, and a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Robbins of Shenandoah, Ia.
