From Goodspeed's History of Tennessee comes a portion of this biographical sketch:" J. Sterling Neblett was born and reared in this county. He was the son of Josiah Neblett, one of the pioneer physicians of the county. On Jan. 31 1867 he was united in marriage to Miss Susan Orgain daughter of Squire Griffin Orgain of the seventeenth district. They had five children, one son and four daughters survive him. The deceased is better known in his career as a journalist in Clarksville. When R.W. Thomas in Oct of 1857 retired from the editorship of the Chronicle that paper passed into of hands of J. Sterling Neblett and Jas. A. Grant and was conducted under the firm of Neblett & Grant until Jan. 1,1878, a period of nearly twenty-one years. In 1878 Mr. Grant's health failed andhe sold his interest in the paper to W.P. Titus and its publication was continued by the firm of Neblett & Titus until 1885 when Mr. Neblett was forced to retire owing to ill health."

J. Sterling and Sue Orgain Neblett had five children: D. Mac.1868-1915, Fannie N. Neblett Ely, Maggie Neblett Lowe, Ruth Neblett, 1875-1972, Sallie Neblett Lawrence 1879-1926.

His parents were Dr. Josiah Neblett b. 1801 -1842 and Lucy B. Thompson Neblett. b. 1805- Oct. 9, 1846. At present I do not know where they are buried.
