T. K. "Pete" Nitterhouse, 89, of 6315 Ninth View Drive, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at his home.

Born Jan. 26, 1914, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late William Lewis and Bertha Almeda Karper Nitterhouse.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Bent Nitterhouse, in 1981.

T.K. was an entrepreneur. He was a part of the early development of Nitterhouse Concrete Inc. He was founder of Penn National Community in Fayetteville and of SunnyHill Development Corp. and NiCrete Farms, both in Chambersburg.

He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chambersburg.

T.K. was one of the founding members of the Chambersburg Area Development Corp. and Downtown Chambersburg Inc., a former member of the Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce and the Chambersburg Golf Club, a former director of Farmer's and Merchants Trust Co. of Chambersburg, a former member of the Chambersburg Hospital Board of directors, a former director of the National Concrete Masonry Association and a member of BPO Elks Lodge 600 of Chambersburg, Chambersburg Club and Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW of Chambersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Needy Nitterhouse, whom he married Feb. 8, 2002; five children, William K. Nitterhouse of Chambersburg, Denise Nitterhouse of Chicago, Patrice L. Zimmerman of Fayetteville, Tanya K. Nitterhouse of Chambersburg and Theodore K. Nitterhouse, Jr. of Chambersburg; a brother, Kenneth L. Nitterhouse of Chambersburg; two granddaughters; three grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Robin Stewart of Waynesboro, Pa.; a stepson, Todd Ulrich of Fayetteville; and his former wife, Esther A Mowen of Hagerstown.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Hair and Mary Jane Johnston, and a brother, William H. Nitterhouse.

Burial will be Tuesday in Norland Cemetery.
