Ada was born in New York in 1870 to parents Joseph A. Parker and Mary Frances Lyons. Ada's parents married in Manhattan, New York March 31, 1869.

By the time Ada was 10 years old her family was living in Oakland, Alameda, California and the 1880 census shows that Ada's mother had recently died of a miscarriage.
By 1887, Ada had relocated to New Hampshire and married Charles A. Todd on April 21, 1887. They divorced in 1901. Ada and Charles had three children in New Hampshire:

Ada was living in San Francisco in 1906 when the great earthquake and subsequent fires broke out.
In 1904, Ada married Calvin Otis Stillings. They eventually divorced (date unknown),
Ada married Austin O. Stanley on 16 Oct 1911 • Pierce, Washington. This marriage also ended in divorce (data unknown).
Eventually Ada ended up in Silver City, New Mexico where she opened and ran a retirement home for cowboys. Most of her tenants had been born in the mid-1800's and had wandered into New Mexico in the 1880's in search for gold and silver. One of Ada's tenants was her uncle Charles Herbert Lyons. After her uncle died in 1948, Ada continued her cowboy retirement home until 1959 when her last cowboy tenant died. At the ripe old age of 86, Ada closed her cowboy retirement home and moved to live near her daughters Veda and Bertha.
Ada died in California at the age of 96.
