Shreveport, La., Feb. 18. - The funeral services over the remains of Dr. T. J. Allen were held at 3 o'clock this afternoon at the First Baptist Church. Rev. Mr. Felix, pastor of the church, conducted the service, and was assisted by Rev. Mathew Van Lear, pastor of the Presbyterian Church. The church was crowded with friends of the deceased who desired to pay the last tribute of respect to the memory of this Christian man. Dr. Allen was one of Shreveport's most prominent physicians and has been a constant resident here for the past forty-five years. In this length of time he built up one of the most lucrative practices in North Louisiana, and was regarded as a most successful physician and surgeon. He was a man of high moral standing and was a staunch member of the Baptist Church.

After the impressive funeral services were concluded at the church the remains were escorted to the old cemetery and laid to rest. The deceased leaves a devoted wife and four children, Dr. Walter Allen, Mr. T. M. Allen, Miss Katie Allen and Master Conway Allen, to mourn his sudden and untimely death.

*Dr. T. J. Allen was extremely active in the Louisiana and Shreveport Medical Society. Newspapers from the late 1800's documented the conventions and meetings where physicians met and shared ideas for treatment. Several society columns as far away as New Orleans also reported on the parties hosted by the Allen's for the clubs their children were in.
