Charles S. Casey, 80, a resident of Jasper, died Friday, March 16, 2012 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center, in Harrison. The Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012 at Jasper United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Larry Acton conducting the service. Burial was at Jasper Cemetery. The son of Charles Brooks and Viola Spears Casey, Charles was born March 11, 1932, at Fayetteville, and was a graduate of Jasper High School; Jasper, Arkansas.
He was a former Postmaster of Jasper and had taught school many years in the Jasper School system. He loved attending sports events and had coached some basketball and baseball in his younger days. He also graduated from University of Central Arkansas (UCA) and went into the teaching profession. While teaching at Bald Knob, Arkansas he met and married Nelda, the love of his life.
Mr. Casey taught at several other schools before returning to teach in the Jasper Elementary School back in his hometown. He fondly had a nickname for almost all of his students.
He was a Christian and attended the Jasper United Methodist Church. He had also been a member of the Masonic Lodge for 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jack Casey.
He is survived by his wife, Nelda Cranford Casey.
