MARGARET J. DUELL
Obituary

Margaret Jane Coplen-Duell was born September 18, 1859, in Marion county, Iowa. At the age of twelve years she moved with her parents to Scotland county, Missouri, where she grew to womanhood.

On February 20, 1884 she was united to Thomas C. Duell of Scotland county, and to this union four children were born, all of whom were at the bedside of their mother at the time of her death, which occurred on the morning of July 1st at three o'clock, after an illness of six weeks.

April 10, 1886 Mr. and Mrs. Duell moved to Sherman county, Kansas and settled on a homestead seven miles southwest of Goodland where they have since resided.

She was reared in a Christian home and kept the faith of her childhood and was a member of the Methodist church of Goodland at the time of her death. On the account of failing health for a number of years she was unable to attend the church services as regularly as she desired, but her interest in the kingdom of her Lord never grew weary. She was a loving wife and devoted mother, and found great happiness in living for her family.

She leaves to mourn her death, a devoted husband, two daughters Daisy and Grace Duell of this city, two sons Roy Duell of this city and Charles Duell of Cheyenne county, Kansas, four grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. R. P. Powers of this city and Mrs. Naomi McVey of Valentine, Nebraska; three brothers, Lyman B. Coplen of Cedarville, Ark., Elijah Coplen of Golden City , Mo., and Lawrence Coplen of North Loup, Nebraska, and other relatives and many friends.

Her Parents and two sisters preceded her to the better world. Her last words were, "Yes, Jesus, in a little while."

Services were conducted in the M. E. church Sunday at 2:30 p. m. by M. R. Starbuck. Those out-of-town attending the funeral of Mrs. T. C. Duell Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Beabout and nephew Ora Wray; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Kidwell of Sharon Springs; Bates Coplen of Lenora, Kansas; Jesse Craft of Edson; Miss Ethel Clark and Mr.s Ellis McConnel of Stratton, Colo.
