Lewis was the 9th child of George and Lottie Fowler Betts. In the 1920 Census, he has the mistaken identy of Lewis Bettos. He is living with mother Lottie(father ended his life in 1918). Others in the household were Lura C. age 16, Hazel E. age 8 and Lottie Fowler age 77. Lewis was 14.

At age 24, in the 1930 Census, Lewis is living with his sister and husband William Vander Water, which is really spelled Van de Water.

Lewis married Anna Hamad. In the 1960's, when I met them, Anna was deaf. I do not know if it was from birth or later in life.

Lewis worked for the Post Office according to his death record. He preceded Anna in death but they managed to be married 50 years.

Lewis was 91 when he passed.
