MOLINE — William E. C. "Andy" Andrews, 90, of Moline, died Friday, March 16, 2012, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.
Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Moline.
William Edward Carlton Andrews was born June 8, 1921, in Cincinnati, Iowa, the son of John and Margaret Foran Andrews. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and married Christine Elizabeth Lewis on June 2, 1946, in Clinton. She died June 14, 1996. He was a millwright at Alcoa in Bettendorf for 32 years, retiring in 1995. He previously worked at J. I. Case.
He was a member of the American Legion and VFW, Local 105 of Alcoa Steelworkers, and Quad-City All Breed Horse Association, and he was a former member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Rock Island, and Davenport Elks and Moose Lodges. He loved horses and enjoyed fishing, boating, tinkering and cards.
Andy is survived by three children, Betty A. Armstrong of Moline, Mark C. Andrews and his wife, Evelyn, of Moline, and Julie T. Andrews of Clinton Township, Mich., five grandchildren and their spouses, Barbara Ann and Andrew Spencer, Debra Christine and Bryan Wahlberg, Carrie Lynn and Josh Jungwirth, Aaron and Linda Andrews, and David and Heather Andrews; as well as 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, a son-in-law, Howard Armstrong, one sister and four brothers.
Andy's family is grateful to the staff at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus and Illini Restorative Care for caring for Andy so well.
