Katherine was the daughter of Isaac and Tatiana (Nekrasov) Hubley, she grew up in Unga Village, Unga Island, Shumagin Islands, Alaska. She had nine siblings: Irina, James, Isaac Jr, Mary, John, Alexandra, Elizabeth, William and James II.

Katherine married Paul Shadura from Minsk Russia, 8 Aug 1901, in Unga Village, he was the choir leader at the Unga Russian Orthodox Church. She first moved with her husband to Unalaska on Unalaska Island, Alaska, in 1901 and then to Kodiak on Kodiak Island in 1902. In 1907 they moved to Kenai, Kenai Peninsula, Alaska. They had six children: Paul Pavlovich, Tatiana, Parascovia, Peter Paul, Alexander Paul and Isaac Paul. In later years Katherine and her husband lived in Tacoma, Washington.

Katherine is interred in Evergreen Washelli Memorial Park beside her husband the Very Rev. Paul Shadura in Seattle, King County, Washington.
