Alvin Byron Clevenger was born July 5, 1929, in Taintor, Iowa, a son of John B. and Icie E. (Wehrle) Clevenger. He proudly served in the U.S Army. He married Annette {omitted for privacy} on Aug. 13, 1962. They celebrated over 54 years of marriage. Al coached and taught at several school districts before settling in Davenport, where he taught at Assumption High School before moving into elementary education in the Dewitt school district.
Alvin was a loving, humble family man and a sports enthusiast. He loved the Cubs, Bears and golf. The family requests that the Chicago Bears be pallbearers so they could let him down one last time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family and will be distributed to Al's favorite charities.
Those left to honor Alvin's memory include his wife, Annette, Davenport; children, {omitted for privacy}
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, George. May they rest in peace.
