Orman Tatman was born in Clermont Co., Ohio, Aug 6, 1809. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Muir Jan 3, 1828. To this union were born 12 children 5 sons and 7 daughters. The wife and 7 children of this union have passed to eternity.

Orman and his wife united themselves with the M. E. church Dec. 12, 1841, 2 years after connecting themselves with the M. P. church. Soon after joining church he commenced preaching the gospel and remained strong in the faith of the Lord until the end.

In 1852 the family moved from Ohio to Van Buren Co. Iowa where he has since resided. The deceased and Elizabeth A. Creath were united in marriage in Sept. 10, 1853. To this union were born 4 children, 1 daughter and 3 sons, 2 of which have passed to eternity. The wife and 7 children remain to mourn the loss of a devoted husband and father. The deceased died March 29, 1896, age 86 yrs. 7 mo. 22 days.

The funeral occurred Monday conducted by Rev. Randolph assisted by Rev. Turney Boydston and Eld. T. A. Renfro.
