"Henry Harpen, whose left hand was seriously injured on the Fourth of July by the explosion of a torpedo, has been confined to his house ever since, and yesterday he was stricken with lockjaw as a result of his injuries. Dr. Hagen was called to attend him, and is treating him with anti-tetanic serum."

John H. Harpin died of tetnus 13 days after his injury was sustained leaving 4 children and a wife.
